From Firnew founder and director, Trish Crowe, “Our focus is the natural Virginia Piedmont landscape that surrounds us.  It is the perfect muse. It is line and color. It is ever changing and precious; and each artist has a unique and individual response to it. We are proud of our growth throughout these 15 years. The old milking parlor was turned into The Studio, which also served as a Gallery to host our early shows.  As the circle of artists grew, adding more painters and photographers, the barn and silo were converted into an exhibition space where the annual spring show is now held.”

Photographer John Berry takes his passion for large prints to a higher level. “Firnew at Fifteen” features 2 large outdoor installations. John takes a photograph, prints it in large sections (on adhesive backed paper), and installs it in sections. Our invitation features his 12 foot by 24 foot silo installation photograph. John’s second outdoor installation is a surprise – folks have to attend the show to see it!

This year we will showcase student artwork from Madison, William Monroe and Woodberry Forest High School students. You will be amazed and inspired by the talent and creativity of these young artists.

The show will also include music by Madison County resident Toni Clare at 1 pm, a May Pole dance by Grymes Memorial School students at 2 pm, and presentation of the Tucker Hill Memorial Scholarship recipients at 3 pm.  Refreshments from Sombrero’s Mexican Cuisine and Snow Mountain Ice Cream and Kettle Corn will be available for purchase.

The show is free and open to the public. Invite family and friends on Sunday, May 6th, 1–5 PM. Firnew Barn Gallery, 19 Wolftown-Hood Road in Hood, VA.
