Courthouse Exhibits

The Albemarle County Courthouse exhibit at 501 Jefferson Street not only provides continuous exhibit space for CVWG members but also promotes education about a variety of mediums. The exhibit changes quarterly. In 2019 the changeover dates are January 28, April 22, July 22, and October 28.

General guidelines: 

• Only original works are permitted, no prints
• All media may be exhibited, with the exception of the April Show which is watercolor only.
• All work must be framed or finished appropriately and wired for hanging. Museum wrapped is permitted.
• No glass allowed. Only Plexiglas.
• 2-dimensional work only, no larger than 44” in either direction, not to exceed 10 lbs. in weight.
• Each work to have a completed label attached to the back and front. (See Labels for Courthouse Show)
• There are no fees, with the exception of the April show.
• Works hang for the duration of the exhibit, usually three months
• The artist will handle all sales
• Neither CVWG nor Albemarle County Courthouse will be responsible for theft, damage or vandalism of artwork.

Delivering and Picking up work:

All work must be delivered to and picked up from the courthouse on the changeover date. No exceptions.
Concierge and Walk in delivery: 10:00am – 12:00 noon, (hours updated since Directory publication), at High Street entrance (see map). Remember to bring two completed labels, and sign in/sign out your work.

April 2019 Members’ Show:

All CVWG members are invited to enter the April Members Show. This is a judged show and all eligible works are accepted into the show. All watermedia works are eligible including watercolor, gauche, acrylic, watercolor crayons, and water-based ink. All participants will receive written comments about their paintings from the judge. The judge will select Merit, Judge’s Choice, and Honorable Mention Awards. There is a $20 fee to enter either one or two paintings.

This year’s judge is Karen Rosasco, an award-winning watermedia artist who has provided art instruction for adults for nearly thirty years, giving classes and workshops in the US and Canada.  She helped high school students develop portfolios for the top design schools in the nation.  Her prize-winning art work has been accepted in juried shows including the American Watercolor Society, The Salmagundi Club and the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Exhibitions in NYC.  Her work can be found in private and corporate collections in the USA, Europe and South America.  Her work has been published in The Palette, Southwest Art and American Artist Watercolor magazines.  Karen lives in Waynesboro and more information can be found at www.KarenRosasco.com.
